Woah guys, this week has flown by! It was my first week of work at Adventures in Missions, and it was AWESOME.
We started off on Monday just going through some basic information about the organization. Then we got to go out to lunch with our new team. Let me tell you, I work with some really great people.
Since most of my team is involved in World Race training camp this week and next week, we got to just jump right in to the work flow. I spent most of the week making commitment calls to participants who were recently accepted to the Passport and World Race Gap Year programs. It is so fun to talk to these people right as they are beginning their journey! Their excitement is so sweet and contagious. I love them already.
It’s been kind of a weird transition here in Georgia. I honestly did not expect it to be as different as it is. The biggest thing that is hard for me to get used to is these roads! Okay, anyone from Nebraska knows that our streets are flat and laid out in a grid. You can basically figure out how to get anywhere because you can take Dodge all the way out west down to the Old Market. That is definitely not how Gainesville roads are set up. They are SO curvy and hilly and the speed limit is SO fast. And nothing makes sense! You have to take 3 versions of the same street to get to your destination, and if you miss a turn you get to figure out how to get around Lake Lanier which is the HUGE lake that Gainesville is located around. It’s definitely an exercise in trust every time I get in my car. It’ll take some time, but I’m sure I’ll get used to them eventually!
I also didn’t realize how weird it would be not to have any people down here. I’m so used to being surrounded by people I know and love, but it’s a whole different world when you don’t really know anyone. I’m fortunate enough to be sleeping on the couch of a great house of women who all work at or with Adventures (one is a missionary in Nicaragua who is on Sabbatical). It’s been fun getting to hang out with them and get to know them a little better. I’m also starting to get to know my co-workers who, like I mentioned, are so great.
PRAISE REPORT: I found a place to live! I will be moving into this really cute house in November. I’ll be living with a married couple who works at Adventures and their 1 year old, and another girl from the community who I haven’t met but heard is super sweet. This place is such an answer to prayer and I can’t wait to have a place to settle into and make my own!
It’s been so cool to see the Lord’s faithfulness in every step of the process moving down here. As I was preparing to move, He told me that this was going to be hard but that He has incredible things in store. I see that happening a little more every day, and it’s an honor to be called to bring Kingdom through my job.
You may have read in my previous blog that I am asked as part of my job to raise a portion of my salary. I’ve been reading a book called The God Ask, and it’s been radically changing my perspective on raising support. It’s actually such an honor! So these next few weeks I’ll be working on building a team of people to support the work I am involved with at Adventures and I can’t wait! There’s so much blessing in store for all of us!
Thank you guys so much for following all the journeys the Lord has taken me on in the last 5 years. It’s fun to look back and see all the ways He pieces things together. And I rest comforted that the best is yet to come!
Much love,
RaeLynn
