It’s tempting for me to believe that my job is to just sit behind a desk, send a lot of emails, and complete tasks. I can forget that there are real people on the other side of my screen who are excitedly and nervously preparing for a really big thing they said “Yes” to the Lord about.
In His kindness, the Lord reminds me of the real purpose of why He called me to this job. I’d like to give you an example.
Here is an excerpt from an email I received from one of my Racers today:
“I just got back from the bank and the teller was asking me what my plans were after graduation. I told her about the trip and we probably talked for twenty minutes about the crazy things God calls you to and she even told me a story about God calling her to go out of her comfort zone and receiving so many blessings from being faithful to him. I’d thought I’d share that with you because times like these encourage me so much and excites me for what is to come.“
She ended her email with this:
“Thank you so much for being a great leader and always checking up on me. I so appreciate it. I look forward to meeting you in person in just a few months!”
Y’all, this is why I do what I do!
I am not just sitting behind a computer completing tasks. I am empowering and supporting 18-20 year olds to step into their calling to spread the Gospel of Christ to the ends of the Earth. This is a really big deal!
I love hearing stories like the one above because it shows me the Lord is already moving in their life. He is leading them into opportunities to share their faith and grow in their knowledge of who God is.
Do you remember when you were 18, 19, 20 years old? What were you up to during those days?
I was a jaded college student who wanted to do things her own way for a while after a lifetime of always following the rules. But God sent a mentor into my life to show me what it really looks like to walk with Jesus. The Lord used her to change the whole trajectory of my life. That is when I decided to really follow Jesus for who He is, not because it’s what I’ve known since I was 4.
I love that I get to play a role like that in my Racers lives!
These kids are hungry for Jesus, for growth, and for serving people all over the world. Imagine the impact they are going to have on the Kingdom of God because they are stepping out in faith. They are doing something that is completely countercultural to what our society expects of them. That takes radical obedience and an incredible amount of faith that most of us did not have at their age. They inspire me daily.
Jesus is going to change the world through them.
Thank you for helping me be a part of their story. In order to continue working with Adventures in Missions, I am responsible for raising $500 in monthly support.
I am just $350 per month away from that goal!!
Please consider joining my support team at any monthly amount. $10, $25, $75, $100 – it all allows me to be part of my participants journey of following Jesus.
I consider it a great honor, and I would love to have you join me in the mission Jesus is accomplishing through these Racers.
